Granton board renews sports co-ops with Neillsville through 2026–27

The Granton Area School District board voted to renew cooperative athletic agreements with Neillsville for baseball and softball for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 school years and to continue middle-school track and softball co-ops with Neillsville.
During the April 14 meeting, trustees approved the baseball renewal on a motion by Douglas Eichten and the softball renewal on a motion by Dennis Kuehn; both motions carried by voice vote. The board also approved continuing middle-school track and softball cooperative arrangements. Athletic staff reported low participation counts in some programs (for the 9–12 baseball co-op the record shows three Granton students participating; 9–12 softball co-op likewise listed three Granton students), and trustees noted deadlines for renewal paperwork: baseball and softball renewals must be submitted by May 1.
Community commenters during the public-comment period urged keeping co-ops in place with Neillsville rather than moving to other partners. The board’s approvals allow the district to offer these sports through the existing cooperative agreements for at least two more school years.
