Committee hears park maintenance and safety improvements: netting, courts and trail repairs

Work at Archer Mill includes an animal enclosure project, graveling parking lots and drainage cleanup to prepare for a 10-week summer camp. Staff said Morton Road playground rubber surfacing requires phased maintenance (seal coating every four to five years) and that Cauley Creek trail showed wear because it was built in two phases. The committee asked whether a different rubber formulation was used; staff responded maintenance and patching are planned for the next fiscal year to address depressions and drainage-related sinkage in flood-plain areas.
Staff also reported that tennis courts and the basketball court at OC Park are being resurfaced together and cricket netting installations are expected to finish in the first week of June. Committee members raised turf field proposals; staff said OPAA is considering a turf installation but no timeline was confirmed.
