Superintendent Brenda Sanford used the Sept. 16 meeting to highlight recent student achievements and announce upcoming district events. She congratulated ROHS student Natalie Mendez for receiving the Billy Mitchell Award and noted that only about 15% of cadets nationwide earn the recognition.
Sanford also listed campus and community events: Grandparent’s Day (Sept. 6), Red Oak Founder’s Day (Sept. 21), Ovilla Heritage Day (Sept. 28), a Coffee Talk with the Superintendent on Oct. 2, the Education Foundation golf tournament on Oct. 7, a North Texas Food Bank mobile pantry at the ESC on Oct. 10, band competitions Oct. 5 and Oct. 26, ROHS homecoming on Oct. 18 (parade at 2:00 p.m., game at 7:00 p.m.) and ROHS theatre performances Oct. 24–26. She also noted National Hispanic Heritage Month running Sept. 15–Oct. 15.
