Freeburg board accepts 2025 audit; finance committee reports stable revenues

Mayor Seth Speiser called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and the Village of Freeburg Board moved quickly to business including acceptance of the annual audit.
Trustee Tom Carpenter, chair of the Finance Committee, summarized the August 27 committee meeting and recommended the audit be sent to the full board. "Trustee Tom Carpenter motioned to accept the Audit, and Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling seconded the motion," the minutes record. On roll call the board recorded six ayes and the motion carried.
Carpenter told the board Administrator Matt Trout explained a change with the sales and use tax and that most tax rates are performing well. Treasurer Bryan Vogel reported he is working on final reports and the committee noted overall fund balances are better than a year ago. The board did not make any additional fiscal policy actions at the Sept. 2 meeting.
The board will next meet Sept. 15; committee reports and any follow-up items from the audit review were not scheduled for formal vote at this session.
