The Madison County commissioners approved a set of resolutions of intent to set public hearings on September 2 to determine whether the public interest and convenience require creating several citizen-initiated zoning districts.
Staff reported petition signature totals for four proposed districts. Bighorn Crossing failed to meet the 60% affected-owner signature threshold (41 of 71 owners, 58%) and was denied; Antelope Basin (24 of 39 owners, 62%), Sheep Mountain (17 of 26 owners, 65%) and Pronghorn Meadows (7 of 9 owners, 78%) met the threshold. The board accepted the clerk-and-recorder letters, set the hearings, and approved Resolutions 34, 35 and 37 to schedule the hearings at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on September 2, respectively.
The decisions establish the timetable for public comment and statutory findings; those hearings will determine whether the county should create the proposed districts.
