Board President Brewster told the board and public that, during the meeting’s closed session, the board and “our chief business officer have mutually agreed to end his employment contract.” The statement said the board “approved an agreement providing for the termination of his employment contract pursuant to section 15.a of his contract,” and added that the agreement “confirms the terms of the mutual termination, which includes a payment of an agreed upon amount to the … employee.”
The president added, “We wish mister Kaffney the best in all of his future endeavors.” No further contract terms were read into the public record beyond the oral summary the board provided at the meeting. Board members offered brief thanks for the officer’s service during the announcement and moved on to the next agenda items.
