Superintendent reports on grant closeouts, new boiler and perimeter fence

The superintendent said district grant work includes final expenditure reports for grants that close Sept. 30 and concurrent applications for the coming federal fiscal year. She said changes to the state grant process have increased administrative time.
On facilities, she reported the installation of a perimeter fence along the west side of campus and said the new elementary boiler is operating efficiently — so much so that staff plan to use the older boiler for transition periods to avoid overheating. She credited LED lighting and other upgrades with lowering energy consumption even as utility rates have risen.
The superintendent described the boiler replacement as a forced but ultimately positive capital project and said the district’s heating systems are now in good shape heading into winter.
