The superintendent said high school volleyball cost $100.14 per player for travel, supplies and officials — “the activity fee of a 100 is paying all but 14¢,” she said. She listed other per-player costs: high school football $166.83 and cross country $170.50. The superintendent explained that occasional large costs, such as a uniform purchase or midseason field paint, inflate a season’s expenses but are not annual.
School officials said the district separates coaching salaries (paid from the general fund) from s-account revenues, which cover gate receipts and activity fees. The report noted that while volleyball produced a net gain in several events this year, most events still run a modest deficit; across seasons the program is “much healthier than it was” but not fully solvent.
Board members did not propose immediate fee changes; staff said they will continue tracking winter and spring sports and present an end-of-year summary for June that could inform future adjustments.
