Council votes to restore one-year probationary period for new hires

The Priceville City Council voted to restore a one-year probationary period for new hires while clarifying that employees would become eligible for vacation after six months. Mayor (speaker 4) explained the revision affects the personnel policy in three places and asked council to approve the change.
"This change would put it back to a 1 year probation for all new hires," Mayor (speaker 4) said when presenting the item. A staff member (speaker 6) recommended removing a provision that required completion of probation before eligibility for a 90-day compulsory military leave, saying that requirement should be removed so service members could take that leave regardless of probation status.
