Cross said the area has experienced repeated signal knockdowns and congestion and that the DOT approved a 90%/10% funding split, which is a better grant match than previously budgeted.
The board approved the agreement unanimously. Trustee Cross said the work will tie multiple signals together and improve turning movements and island configuration, and staff indicated the project was part of the 2026 capital budget.
