Whitehall says several grades outpaced Montana averages; 5th‑grade math flagged as exceptional

Koenig presented results from last year’s Montana Assessment, telling the board that Whitehall’s scaled scores edged past statewide averages in several grades. "As you can see on there, we, over on the far right hand side, Montana average is an average scaled score of 308. Whitehall was at 320," Koenig said as he compared local results to state benchmarks.
Koenig and other board members singled out fifth grade for particularly strong outcomes: one classroom showed 88% of students proficient or advanced in math and nearly 80% of those were advanced, a result the board described as exceptional. Board members said they want to study and replicate the instructional practices and coaching that produced that growth in other grade levels.
