Athletics shortfall flagged; wrestling and golf drive most of the deficit

"Right now we're at, like, negative 20,000, but 16,000 of it is wrestling," S2 said, flagging wrestling as the largest contributor to the deficit and identifying golf as a sport that may also need fee adjustments because of higher travel and green‑fee costs.
S2 said high school track is presently roughly balanced (about $1,500 spent on travel and revenues roughly equal) while golf has a modest surplus to date but faces costly trips to Eureka and Shelby that include rooms and meals. The staff recommended waiting for final numbers at the June meeting before deciding whether to raise activity fees for wrestling or golf.
