Council previews planners' visit to revisit 2017 economic development themes

"How do we plan and zone to maintain resource industry," Pat said, noting themes including forestry and high-tech (Insitu), wind/energy, and wine and agricultural enterprises. Pat said planners from The Conservation Fund will attend a February session to discuss zoning, parking, and support for events and tourism.
Council discussion touched on strategies to support wellness tourism, cottage industries and artists, farm tourism and farm-to-table events, and the need for better parking and services for visitors. Members emphasized supporting existing local businesses and accommodating agricultural and natural-resource jobs without eroding current land uses.
