Klicknet asks Trout Lake council for letter of support to secure BEAD broadband funding

Klicknet representatives Shane Milburn (technical) and Melissa Kephart (software/sales) gave a presentation to the Trout Lake Community Council on Dec. 3 about the company's local broadband project and requested a letter of support to strengthen upcoming funding applications.
Shane Milburn described the planned network as "100% fiber internet, 12 miles aerial fiber, 0 of 5 miles underground fiber, 387 service locations, [and] 40 subscribers," and outlined pricing of $99 per month, a $149 installation fee, and a 500 Mbps symmetrical service with no contracts or surcharges. He said the current project is partially funded through state funds and federal BEAD money and that Klicknet hopes to expand next year.
Council members discussed logistics and whether to support a full-fiber route or a hybrid build down to Husum. Klicknet asked for a council letter of support with a mid-January deadline to accompany funding applications; the council did not take a formal vote that night but placed the request on the agenda for follow-up. Daina Bambe, who led the meeting, confirmed the request and said the council would consider providing a letter.
