A representative from the Cooperative Tug Hill Council told the Martinsburg board about funding and training resources available to local governments and nonprofits, including capital funding for arts organizations, records-management webinars from the NYS Archives, NY Planning Federation training options and an upcoming webinar on child care as a land-use issue. The briefing also flagged Lewis County facade and streetscape funding rounds and an open NYSDEC invasive-species grant round.
County Legislator Josh Leviker reported that Glenfield residents had raised concerns about speeding and drivers failing to stop at stop signs on Main Street; blinking lights and new speed limits have been added, and speed cameras were mentioned as a possible next step. Leviker also raised safety concerns about a gaping hole at the old fire hall with winter approaching, said Short-Term Rental law (ABA) is under discussion, noted the Streetscape project will next address Constableville, and said the county will hold public meetings inviting town input after closing on the railroad.
