San Elizario ISD recognizes employees, students and programs during School Board Appreciation Month
Summary
Trustees and district staff honored board members and recognized teachers, employees, program participants and student athletic and certification achievements at the Jan. 15 meeting.
The board meeting included multiple recognitions marking School Board Appreciation Month.
Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez presented a proclamation from El Paso County Judge Samaniego and commissioners; the City of San Elizario was unable to attend. Mariachi Aguilas from San Elizario High School performed, and district librarians and students recognized trustees. Ms. Gina Ramirez presented the district Teacher and Employee of the Year nominees and recognized participants in the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program and the district's first Miner Teacher Resident in partnership with the University of Texas at El Paso. Mr. Cesar Morales highlighted athletic achievements (including San Elizario High School 2024 Leading Rusher Zamar Vargas and multiple middle-school district championships). Ms. Sandra Sanchez recognized students who earned Level 2 Non-Commissioned Security Officer certification and Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
The recognitions covered staff and student accomplishments across academics, career and technical education and athletics, and were presented as part of the district's acknowledgement of board service.
