The San Elizario Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a district Balanced Scorecard at its Jan. 15 regular meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez presented the Balanced Scorecard โ the district's belief statement, mission and vision, strategic priorities and strategic objectives โ and trustees voted to adopt the document. "Motion to approve San Elizario ISD Balanced Scorecard, to include the Belief Statement, Mission/Vision, Strategic Priorities (column one) and Strategic Objectives (column two)," was made by Trustee Myrna Hernandez and seconded by Trustee Sandra Licon; the motion passed.
Board members framed the measure as a roadmap for aligning district work to student outcomes and 21st-century skills. The item was part of the "New Business / Board Action Items" segment and followed a brief book study discussion of The Governance Core.
The approval takes the Balanced Scorecard into effect as the district's formal strategic framework; the board did not attach additional conditions or amendments during the vote. The board will continue related implementation discussions in future meetings and staff will circulate materials to trustees as the work proceeds.
