District leaders report mixed assessment results after state cut‑score changes

District administrators presented assessment results across the elementary, junior high and high school buildings and explained the state's recent changes to performance levels and cut scores, which make direct year‑to‑year comparisons difficult. Miss Black told trustees the state moved from five performance levels to four and adjusted cut scores for ELA, math and science; she said the changes mean historical trend lines must be interpreted with caution.
"So the big takeaways for us is that the state has moved from 5 performance levels to 4 performance levels," Miss Black said. At the junior high, Dr. Kwazny reported an overall index score of 81.7 and described a "commendable" designation with strong ELA and growth measures; he said science outperformed the state average (53 vs. 45). At the high school, Mr. Meyer highlighted SAT and AP results and discussed planned changes to credit recovery platforms to address login issues.
