Marlborough board holds moment of silence, reads late Councilman Molinelli’s resignation

Supervisor Colleen Corcoran opened the Nov. 24 Town Board workshop with the Pledge of Allegiance and asked for a special moment of silence to remember Councilmember Ed Molinelli, who passed away earlier that day. Corcoran told the board he had read a resignation letter Molinelli had written prior to his death and said the Board will announce who will fill the vacant seat at the next meeting; that person will be sworn in on Jan. 1, 2026 and serve one year.
Board members took no personnel action at the workshop. The Board noted the vacancy will be filled at the next meeting and the swearing-in ceremony will occur on Jan. 1, 2026 before the Reorganization meeting. The appointment and any subsequent election requirements were discussed as procedural next steps by the board.
