The Beecher CUSD 200U board voted to approve the TeachTown curriculum for the district’s early‑childhood (EC) program at its Feb. 11 meeting. Miss Compton, who presented the proposal, said the program provides daily hands‑on, activity‑based lessons in English and Spanish and includes integrated data collection that parents can access at home.
"Every single book that is in the library is also in Spanish," Miss Compton said, arguing that the curriculum meets the district’s bilingual and family‑engagement needs. Board members were told the cost would be covered with IDEA grant funds so the purchase would not affect the district’s operating budget. The motion to approve TeachTown was made, seconded and approved by roll call.
