Officials: high-school wastewater tie-ins near completion; EPA grant extended to Dec. 31

Project staff told the board they expect the wastewater work at the high school property to be completed and tied in before the end of the scheduled period, with final paved cuts to follow. The chair and staff said decommissioning an existing tank will be handled by DPW (drain, perforate, add sand) and that any salvageable parts will be removed.
Staff reported they requested and received an EPA extension because the original EPA contract money was set to expire Sept. 30; the extension was granted through Dec. 31 "so we can finish all the project out, get the payments, back and forth, and check the box," a staff member said. Presenters noted that pretreatment application was submitted to West Warwick and cautioned that permitting could delay starting to process wastewater until that approval is obtained.
