The Woodland Park Board of Education voted unanimously on May 1 to adopt a final budget of $27,895,546 for the 2025–2026 school year. The budget totals $23,338,133 in the General Fund, $4,048,663 in Special Revenue and $508,750 for Debt Service; taxes to be raised are $19,901,060.
The motion to adopt the budget was made by Shannon Marren and seconded by Julissa Rodriguez and passed on a roll-call vote, 7 yes, 0 no. The board noted the tentative budget had previously been approved by the Executive County Superintendent of Schools on April 16, 2025, and was advertised in the Herald/Record News on April 17, 2025.
Dr. Michele Pillari and Ernie Turner presented the budget to the board prior to the vote. When asked later whether the district planned staffing reductions, Dr. Pillari said she was "proud to say that there will be no staffing cuts, along with no program cuts." That assurance, given during the public-hearing portion of the agenda, was part of the board's consideration before the final adoption.
The board followed required public-notice procedures under the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law before the vote. The budget becomes the district's spending plan for the coming school year and funds operations, instruction, and debt service as outlined in the adopted totals.
