The Woodland Park Board of Education on July 1 approved a bundled personnel motion covering agenda items 226-01 through 226-17, including the appointment of new teachers and aides, rescission of previously approved appointments and two terminations.
The motion, made by Board member Shannon Marren and seconded by Mark Salemi, passed on roll call with eight votes in favor and zero opposed. Approved hires listed in the motion include Tara Palminteri (math teacher, Memorial, Step 1, $69,255), Bettina Rosario (ELA teacher, Memorial, BA, Step 1, $62,805), Amanda Drexler (ELA teacher, Memorial, BA, Step 1, $62,805) and Alexis Georgiou (elementary teacher, BG, BA+30, Step 1, $69,255). The board also approved part-time and temporary positions, including a substitute for the Summer Academic Intervention Program (Daniella Arias at $48/hr.) and a summer custodial appointment for Vincent Berardi (5 hrs/day at $16.25/hr.).
The motion included administrative personnel actions: acceptance of the resignation of Elizabeth Tolley effective June 30, 2025; rescission of several previously approved appointments (Elizabeth Tolley as House Leader; Frankie Kuster; Grace Mariani; Antonio Bargiel); and termination of employment for employee ID#4680 and employee ID#4341, both effective June 30, 2025. The minutes record that "this meeting was called for hiring purposes," a point Adam Weiss made during public comment about the meeting's notice and purpose.
Board members also approved leave and stipend items within the same motion: the board granted maternity/family leave for Brittney Dorney under the Federal Family Leave Act (Nov. 17, 2025–Jan. 9, 2026) and the New Jersey Family Leave Act (Jan. 12–Apr. 3, 2026) with an expected return date of April 13, 2026. Stipends approved for the 2025–26 school year include Play Director Pam Yesenosky ($3,375) and Breakfast Duty (Dounia Omran, $1,000). The motion covered workshop and travel reimbursements for listed staff as well.
