Trout Lake council backs request for advisory panel on county comprehensive plan

At its Feb. 4 meeting, the Trout Lake Community Council voted to back Pat Arnold's request that the county convene an advisory council composed of one representative from each active community council to assist with the county's comprehensive land-use update.
Pat Arnold said the county's funding for comprehensive planning will run out in June 2025 and that the county plans to hold several public information meetings this spring; the county's current approach, Arnold said, limits immediate opportunities for extensive public input. "The County's funding for comprehensive land use planning will run out 6/2025," Arnold reported during the discussion.
Tom Binder moved to support the letter requesting the advisory panel; Dave Wampler seconded the motion and it passed with the council's recorded vote in favor. The action asks the county to create a mechanism for community-council input that represents active councils across the region.
Council members emphasized the difficulty of substantive plan updates and noted past legal challenges to land-use revisions when public input was insufficient. The motion directs council officers to send the endorsed letter to county commissioners.
