Granite County to notify road-crew foremen directly for random drug and alcohol tests

Commissioner Adler moved to notify the foremen of drug and alcohol testing; Commissioner McLure seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Public attendee Justine Richmond asked whether there are foremen at both shops and whether they are supervisors; the Board confirmed both foremen are supervisors. Commissioners said that once the procedure is finalized routine notification need not appear as a recurring agenda item.
The change aims to reduce administrative delay and let foremen escort selected employees to testing locations promptly. The Board did not specify any change to the testing standard itself, only the internal notification and escort process.
