Councilman Appler Jr. explained that he and a colleague treated Long Pond about 20 years ago and that, because of DEC permitting requirements, the town selected Life Inc. to manage treatment in 2026. Supervisor Corcoran said the cost will be $5,000 for labor and herbicide applications, with additional treatments at $2,000 each if necessary. "The cost will be $5,000.00 for the labor and herbicide applications with additional treatments at $2,000.00 each if needed," Corcoran said at the meeting.
Councilman Appler Jr. moved to sign the agreement with Life Inc. for the 2026 treatment; Councilman Cauchi seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Board members said they expect improvements over a few years and anticipated potential cost reductions over time as treatment stabilizes.
