Royse City ISD honors students, Eagle Scouts and staff awards at April meeting
Summary
Board recognized winners of a Spanish Spelling Bee and TAFE national awards, the powerlifting team, Eagle Scouts and Academic All-Stars; the business office and transportation director also received district awards.
Royse City ISD trustees spent the opening portion of their April 14 meeting recognizing student and staff achievements across the district.
Students Ariana Zapien and Sol Antunez were recognized for winning the Spanish Spelling Bee. Students Cade Wagner, Emma Kremeier and Raegan Williams were honored for recent TAFE national awards. The Royse City High School powerlifting team and several students achieving Eagle Scout rank were introduced to the board and recognized for accomplishments during the 2024–25 school year. Basketball Academic All-Stars — Carlie Parlier (girls), Dylan Bookout (boys) and Brock McMinn (boys) — were also recognized.
Chief Financial Officer Byron Bryant introduced the Business Office, which the minutes record as receiving the TASBO Purchasing Award of Merit, the TASBO Award of Excellence in Financial Management, and the ASBO Meritorious Budget Award. Cody Cox, Executive Director of Transportation, was recognized as Transfinder Ambassador of the Year.
Board commentary emphasized appreciation for student effort and staff support. Trustee Eric Fort said, "I just love the hard work and how you've been able to absorb so many students who want to be on the team." Trustee Jessica Ratterree thanked staff and volunteers and said, "It is overwhelming sometimes, and just know you are really appreciated for everything you do and the seemingly small things make a difference."
