Fire Chief Daryl Fox requested council approval on May 26 to apply for the 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), rapid intervention team (RIT) kits and additional SCBA bottles. Chief Fox provided the grant request total and the city match during his presentation.
"The total amount to be requested is $329,573.08 and the City will have a 5% match of $16,478.65," Chief Fox said. Council Member Austin Baker moved to authorize the application and Council Member Sherry Yeager seconded; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Council action authorizes staff to prepare and submit the grant application; any purchase would be contingent on award and subsequent appropriation of local matching funds.
