At the November 3 work session summarized on Nov. 10, trustees reported several local development updates. Chairman Bornmueller said Starbucks is working toward a mid-November opening and that construction at the planned Take 5 Oil Change is progressing. The board noted Ameren’s substation project is still several months from active site work while the utility completes county plan recordation and provides the village with recorded copies.
The minutes also record that Chairman Bornmueller met with commercial real estate developer Mr. Bahn about interest in purchasing the General Grant Shopping Mall. Trustees discussed property-specific matters—permits for a local motel that has resumed work, outstanding progress requirements at 7895 Watson with 30 days remaining to show improvement, and a requested county inspection at 7823 Watson.
