The Hartselle City Council approved Resolution 26-0526 on May 26, authorizing the mayor to submit an application for a FY2027 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant to fund pedestrian access improvements along Garner Road SW. Engineering Director Ben Wood told council members the total project cost is $1,024,720.31 and the city’s local match would be 20%, or $224,720.31.
"The total project cost is $1,024,720.31 and the City will have a 20% match of $224,720.31," Wood said. Council Member Mike Swafford moved to approve the resolution and Council Member Austin Baker seconded; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote. The action permits staff to pursue the competitive TAP grant; project acceptance and any construction would depend on award and future appropriation.
