The City Council voted unanimously on May 26 to adopt Ordinance 1653, rezoning approximately 2.9 acres on Parker Road from AG-1 (agriculture) to R-1 (single-family detached residential). Development Director Jeremy Griffith told council members the rezoning is being requested to allow the parcel to be divided from a larger AG-1 tract and conforms to the current comprehensive plan.
"This request is in conformance with the current comprehensive plan, and is being requested in order for the property to be divided off from a larger AG-1 parcel," Griffith said. He noted the Planning Commission recommended approval by a 7-0-1 vote. Council Member Mike Swafford moved to adopt the ordinance and Council Member Virginia Alexander seconded; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
The rezoning will allow the subject lot to be sold or developed separately under single-family zoning requirements rather than remaining part of a larger agricultural parcel.
