City utilities staff recommended entering a contract with American Tank and Maintenance to provide maintenance for all four municipal water-storage tanks beginning Oct. 1. Lindy (S5) said the city solicited proposals from three contractors, evaluated them and recommended American Tank and Maintenance to manage inspections, washouts and repainting cycles.
Mayor Day said a previous round of grants and work had left the city with an unusual, nearly completed tank-refurbishment cycle, and a maintenance contract would "minimize our long term cost going forward." Council moved and approved the recommendation unanimously. Officials said the contractor would perform visual inspections annually and washouts every three years, with repainting scheduled on a multi-year cadence as part of the contract.
