Council adopts $100 setup fee for hydrant meters to recover installation costs

Utilities staff described recent field work and a rise in contractor requests for hydrant meters, including installation and removal tasks that require staff time. Lindy (S5), who presented the item, recommended a one-time $100 setup fee "per each time" a hydrant meter is installed; the fee applies whenever staff installs and later removes a hydrant meter for contractor use.
Mayor Day (S1) said the fee will not fully cover costs but will help recover some of the city's labor and administrative burden. The council moved to adopt the fee and recorded a unanimous vote in favor. "You heard the recommendations," the clerk announced before the vote; the mayor and council members signaled unanimous approval.
