Franklin Park planning staff presented a package of edits to Title 9 Chapter 11 on July 8, 2026 addressing general off‑street parking and loading requirements, parking flexibilities (on‑street credits, public lot credits, fee‑in‑lieu and transit reductions), maintenance standards, and consolidated electric‑vehicle (EV) charging rules into Chapter 11.
Rudy Repa said the revisions were intended to improve clarity and resolve inconsistent or repetitive EV language previously appearing in multiple sections. "The amendment re‑establishes that electric vehicle charging stations are permitted only as an accessory use to an approved principal use and may be installed within parking lots, parking garages, gas stations, and residential properties," Repa said, adding that the amendment clarifies permitted charging levels, required signage and maintenance obligations.
Board members discussed the item and agreed the Standards were satisfied. Member Frank Grieashamer moved to recommend approval; Member Kathy Mennella seconded the motion and the board voted 7–0. Chairman Cwik reminded the petitioner that the ZBA is advisory and that final action will be taken by the Village Board of Trustees.
