The Southwest Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its Nov. 19 meeting by recognizing students and teachers across the district.
Board members named Alaina Salazar (Hidden Cove STEAM Academy), Makayla Day (Resnik Middle School) and Sarah Hernandez (Southwest Legacy High School) as students of the month. Rising Star attendance recognitions were given to Cecilia Morales (Southwest Elementary), Dominik Sanchez‑Gonzales (Scobee Middle School) and Diego Carrasco (CAST STEM High School). Fine Arts holiday‑card winners were Kamryn Howell (Kriewald School of the Arts), Zoe Serrano (McNair Middle School) and Arianna Vasquez (Southwest Legacy High School); each received a $125 gift card.
Richard Flores announced the winners of the district’s Blue Santa poster contest and Roger Campos told the board that the Southwest ISD and South San ISD Blue Santa annual event will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024. The recognitions also included Teacher Apple awards presented to district teachers for contributions toward meeting the district’s student achievement benchmarks.
