Marion County commissioners voted July 29 to establish a temporary 35 miles-per-hour speed zone on a portion of Gates Hill Road S.E. while crews repair the North Fork Road landslide and North Fork Road remains closed.
Carl Lund, listed as the Public Works presenter for the item, said, “The reduced speed limit will be 35 miles per hour.” The board approved the order by motion, with Commissioners Danielle Bethell, Kevin Cameron and Colm Willis voting aye.
The order applies only during the North Fork Road Landslide Repair Project and is intended to improve safety for construction crews and motorists while the closure is in effect. No hearing was requested for the item and the board adjourned shortly after the motion.
