Attorney Liz Cassidy told trustees the initial step for 212 Homestead Avenue is the building inspector's report under section 81-4; if the board finds a structure abandoned, dangerous, or unsafe the board can order repair or removal under 81-5 and must set a hearing with at least five days’ notice. "Pursuant to 81-5 you need to consider said report," Cassidy said, explaining the statutory steps.
Trustee Giannico moved and the board authorized a resolution determining the structure at 212 Homestead is unsafe and ordered removal procedures; the board also set a public hearing for Feb. 2, 2026. The motion passed 4 Ayes, 0 Nays. The board did not at this meeting adopt a demolition order, but authorized proceeding under Chapter 81 and scheduling the hearing required by the code.
