Mayor Dennis Leahy opened remarks recognizing the retirement of Police Chief Arnold “Butch” Amthor, praising Amthor’s leadership and long service. "This evening marks both a sad and a happy occasion as we recognize the retirement of Village of Maybrook Police Chief Arnold 'Butch' Amthor," Leahy said, and announced Amthor will remain through Jan. 31 to ensure a smooth handover.
Leahy recommended promoting Deputy Chief Dennis Barnett to police chief and said Barnett had progressed through the department ranks. The board voted 4-0 to appoint Dennis Barnett as Police Chief with a salary of $34,000 per year. Chief Dennis Barnett thanked trustees and said he appreciated the board’s trust and what he learned from predecessors.
