Maybrook board adopts $200 fee for non-functioning water meters

Mayor Dennis Leahy opened a public hearing on a proposed fee for non-functioning water meters and turned the floor to Attorney Liz Cassidy, who reviewed the ordinance background and application. Cassidy told the board the fee would apply to residents who do not have a water meter or who have a broken meter and refuse to fix it. "The fee of $200.00 will be applied only to residents that don’t have a water meter or a broken one after time refuse to get it fixed," Cassidy said.
Trustee Daryl Capozzoli moved to open and then close the hearing after no public comment; Capozzoli and Deputy Mayor Charles Woznick then supported a resolution to amend the village fee schedule to include the $200 non-functioning-meter fee. The motion to adopt the resolution passed 4 Ayes, 0 Nays. The board did not record any conditions or exemptions beyond the text presented at the hearing.
