Commission conditions Goldeneye LLC pool and landscaping plan on NHESP approval

Attorney Rob McCarron and landscape designer Peggy Schwier presented plans for landscaping work and repairs to an existing swimming pool at 690 & 794 Chappaquonsett Road, noting the project is under review by the Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program (NHESP).
"NHESP has raised concern regarding whether Sheriffs Meadow has any objection to the installation of a single post and the placement of shells within this portion of the roadway," the presenters told the Commission. The presentation identified a Zone A where miscanthus occurs both north and south of the driveway; the Commission indicated that hand digging is the preferred method for removing miscanthus in that zone.
The Commission approved the project on the condition that NHESP provide the requested letter of approval from Sheriffs Meadow and accept the proposed miscanthus management strategy. The motion to approve, made by John Best and seconded by Caroline Little, passed unanimously with all five commissioners voting in favor.
Staff said the Sheriffs Meadow Management Committee is scheduled to review the project and that the applicant will supply keyed photographs to clarify locations for NHESP review.
