The City Council appointed Ronniel (Ravneel) Chaudhary to a regular seat on the Public Works & Transportation Commission and later named Neil Ramazwami as the alternate member on Feb. 18.
Both candidates were interviewed in public. Chaudhary (who described himself as born and raised in East Palo Alto and active in student advocacy) emphasized community engagement and prioritizing medium‑term, achievable public‑works fixes such as sidewalks and parking solutions in the Gardens. Ramazwami, who described engineering experience at Tesla and local reliability/ facilities work, said near‑term improvements could include road repairs and lighting. Council members, noting the recruitment process had been advertised for a full seat, debated whether to fill an alternate at the same time; several members argued for creating a candidate pool for future vacancies. The council ultimately voted to appoint Chaudhary to the full seat by majority and to use the existing candidate pool to fill the alternate seat; Neil Ramazwami was then appointed alternate (with one abstention recorded).
