Gail Wilkerson wins alternate seat on Sanitary District advisory committee in 3–2 split

The East Palo Alto Sanitary District advisory committee selected Gail Wilkerson as its alternate commissioner after an on‑the‑record vote during the Feb. 18 joint meeting.
During the EPASD appointment process, board members interviewed two applicants — Anthony Smith and Gail Wilkerson Dixon — for an alternate seat. Board members then voted; City Clerk James read the roll: Mayor Martha Barragan, Council Member Webster Lincoln and Council Member Bridal cast ballots for Gail Wilkerson; Vice Mayor Dinan and Council Member Romero voted for Anthony Smith. The tally made Wilkerson the winner by 3–2. Following the outcome, Wilkerson agreed to resign her alternate seat on the Public Works and Transportation Commission so she could serve EPASD.
Board and council members discussed the future composition of the advisory committee and public commenter Uhila Macconi urged expanding the commission to seven regular members to increase representation; staff said they would accept letters supporting such a change and bring considerations back to council if appropriate.
