County auditors report clean 2024 opinion; commissioners accept audit

Greg Soule, partner in charge of the county audit, summarized the 2024 audited financial statements and said the auditors issued an unmodified (clean) opinion and found no material weaknesses in internal control. The single-audit for federal expenditures likewise contained no findings, and the auditors discussed reclassifications and changes to fund presentation including ARPA activity moving to a non-major fund and the drug task force moving to a major fund.
"Our opinion on the financial statements contained an unmodified or a clean opinion," Soule told the board, adding that the county's general fund finished the year in good health with an increase in fund balance. He noted total net position increased by roughly $8.6 million and provided a brief preview of upcoming GASB reporting changes. The board voted to accept the 2024 audit report as presented.
