Council authorizes up to $8,500 for library repairs

Jamie, representing the library staff, told the council the library needs exterior and interior repairs, including rotten fascia, two rotten front doors, two rotten window sills, ceiling tiles and two toilets that need replacement. She reported an initial estimate for the necessary work of $7,310.
Mayor Phillips recommended the council increase the authorized amount slightly to cover potential unforeseen items. "Hey, let's just take it to, up to 8,500," the mayor said. After a motion from Ms. Reeves and a second from Mr. Wolf, the council voted in favor of authorizing the repair work at the library for up to $8,500.
Council members also discussed cleaning up landscaping in front of the library and possible sign improvements to make the building more visible from Highway 11. Staff said additional landscaping and signage pricing will be provided to the council at a later meeting.
