Maybrook advances EV charging regulation; Planning Board input still pending

The Village of Maybrook opened a public hearing Aug. 25 on Introductory Local Law No.4, which would add an article to Chapter 210 of the Village Code to regulate electric vehicle charging stations. Trustee Giannico moved to open the hearing and the board voted to open and later close the hearing with no public comment.
Attorney Kelly Naughton told the board the Village had assumed lead agency at the prior meeting and could issue a Negative Declaration under SEQRA; the board voted 4-0 to declare a Negative Declaration. The board also received a General Municipal Law (GML) referral from the County, but the Planning Board had not discussed the proposal; the Village clerk and attorney advised adjourning further action until the Planning Board returns its comments.
