Emergency management warns of drought conditions; water tenders and sandbags staged

Emergency Management Director Josh Phillips told the commission on July 27 that several parts of Duchesne County are experiencing significant moisture deficits and that a heat advisory is in effect. Phillips reported that Moon Lake, Dollar Ridge and Indian Canyon are roughly 13 inches below average, while other areas are about six inches below average for the year.
Phillips said the county's fire team has returned to the area and is available for deployment. Two water tenders were delivered to the Emergency Operations Center, and staff are preparing 100 filled sandbags to be staged at each fire station. Phillips said forecasts indicate next week will be hotter, and the county is preparing accordingly.
