During an executive session called March 3, the Mayor and Board accepted the resignation of Officer Hayden Lukens, effective Feb. 23, 2026, and the resignation of Dispatcher Lucy Macias, effective Feb. 24, 2026. Both personnel actions were taken on the recommendation of Chief Brad Burns and recorded with unanimous votes among present members.
Also in executive session the board approved hiring Jason Love as a full‑time police officer at $21.06 per hour, effective March 4, 2026, and authorized sending him to SRPSI Academy at Camp Shelby on April 5, 2026 at a cost of $4,000 for certification; employment is contingent on successful background check and drug/alcohol testing and includes a six‑month probation period. The board further approved Mayor Gunn's recommendation to increase Street Director David Myers' salary to $65,000 annually, effective immediately.
