District reports assessment gains; administrators urge viewing scores as one measure

District administrators on July 9 presented assessment results they said show gains across most measures, while cautioning that state and national assessments capture only a moment in time.
"Student success is measured in many ways (as seen earlier in the meeting by our State Champion students), only one of which is test scores," Dr. Wise told the board prior to the presentation. Dr. Kim Liles, Principal Carrie Fitzgerald and Assistant Superintendent Katie Matthews highlighted areas of growth and recommended continued focus on clarity, communication and time for professional development to align learning expectations.
Consultants from Education Elements and TJ Consults provided preliminary feedback that the district is on the right track but should press for stronger Tier One practices in student services. Final, detailed internal reports are expected to follow.
