Long Lake board authorizes Letter of Intent for replacement highway garage site

The Town Board of Long Lake voted unanimously Oct. 1 to authorize the town supervisor to execute a Letter of Intent with the property owner of the proposed highway garage site in the Hamlet of Raquette Lake.

The resolution, printed in the meeting transcript as "Resolution Number 52 of 2025," would permit Raquette Lake Supply Co., Inc., as landlord, to proceed with financing, design, permitting and construction of a replacement building and related outdoor storage and transfer-station operations. The text of the resolution instructs the Town Attorney to "develop a reviewable lease incorporating the essential terms of the LOI," and states the measure would take effect immediately upon adoption.

Councilman Nathan S. Hosley moved to adopt the measure and Councilman Mark A. Bird seconded; the motion recorded in the transcript as "to accept resolution 53 of 2025" was adopted with Arsenault, Bird, Donnelly and Hosley voting in favor. The transcript contains inconsistent resolution numbering (it lists the measure as 52 earlier and records the motion as 53); the record does not resolve that discrepancy.

The LOI and subsequent lease work are intended to address the town's need to replace a highway garage building the town leases from the landlord, which the transcript states is "nearing the end of its useful life." No construction schedule or financing details were provided at the workshop; the board directed the town attorney to draft lease language for later approval.
