Supervisor flags battery-storage outreach and regional job impacts from pulp mill closure

In his report Supervisor Clay J. Arsenault informed the board that Abundant Solar Power Inc. mailed a letter to residents about a proposed Battery Energy Storage System and reminded the public that Long Lake enacted a stringent Battery Energy Storage System law in 2024 to regulate such projects.
Arsenault also reported that Finch Pruyn will be closing its pulp operation in Glens Falls, which he said will reduce regional logging-related revenue and affect forestry, trucking and other wood-product jobs in the area. The board received these items as part of the written Supervisor’s report included in the meeting packet.
